The new academic year 2022/2023, which starts in September, brings important news for the Spanish insurance sector. The University of Oviedo, with the encouragement and promotion of the business organization of insurance brokers E2K, creates its own title of “University Specialist in Data Science Applied to the Insurance Activity«.
The new university degree will be taught in a hybrid format (face-to-face/online) within the framework of the EPIG (Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón) by a prestigious panel of teaching professors and sectoral experts who will contribute academic knowledge to the practical application of data analytics. data to the insurance industry, both from the general perspective of the sector and from the specific scope of the insurance broker. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the commitment to the contribution of sector experts of the highest level and responsibility on the part of important insurers in the Spanish market.
The initiative is part of the close collaboration between the University of Oviedo and E2K have been developing through the technology center that is the headquarters of the ebroker platform, located in the Asturian town of Pravia, a collaboration that aims to bring young university talent closer to a strategic sector for the Spanish economy such as the insurance industry.

In the words of Manuel Luna, PhD from the Business Organization Area of the University and Director of the degree: “This new degree from the University of Oviedo, a pioneer in the national educational context, not only represents a boost to training in new disciplines demanded by the business world, it also represents a good example of how to achieve it through university cooperation -business."

This title is a highly valuable tool to train our teams in data analytics, something essential in the evolution of ebroker. "
Young university students and teams from insurance companies and mediation companies will be able to access through this new degree the expert knowledge of a discipline with great potential for development and progression, present and future, both in the professional-labour field, and in the development business strategy for the sector.
The pre-registration period, which is already open, will end on August 16. The registration period will be from September 12 to 22. The specific start date will be duly communicated to the enrolled students, estimating for the end of September.
The degree grants 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), equivalent to 300 teaching hours.
The tuition fees established and managed by the University of Oviedo will be 2.800,00 euros. The possibility of establishing scholarships sponsored by collaborating entities that E2K will manage with the University of Oviedo is currently being studied.
