Among the actions, the launch of a new title of "University Specialist in Data Science applied to the Insurance Activity" stands out, implemented in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Yesterday, we sat down with the University of Oviedo the bases of the collaboration between the company and the academic institution, with the signing of a protocol of intent through which both organizations will reinforce our commitment to the joint development of transfer activities, employability, as well as the dissemination and execution of teaching collaborations and existing joint research. The document was signed by the Vice Chancellor of Transference and Relations with the Company of the University of Oviedo, Begoña Cueto; the vice-rector for Academic Management, José Miguel Arias, and the CEO of E2K and CEO of ebroker, Higinio Iglesias.

The collaboration between the University of Oviedo and E2K establishes an institutional cooperation framework that will promote the strengthening of synergies, the promotion and projection of the expert knowledge of its technical teams and the optimal use of the resources available to both institutions, with the ultimate goal to promote the technological development of the insurance sector in Spain.

University Specialist in Data Science applied to the Insurance Activity

Among the different actions that will derive from this collaboration agreement, the launch of a new title of “University Specialist in Data Science applied to the Insurance Activity”, which will already be implemented in the next academic year 2022/2023 and whose objective is to provide students with practical and quality training in the application of new Information and Communication Technologies, specifically those encompassed in the Science of Data, to all the functions carried out by professionals in the insurance activity.

El title It will be taught during business hours (Tuesday and Thursday from 18:00 p.m. to 21:00 p.m.) and in a hybrid format (face-to-face/online) to guarantee that students can access a combination of academic and practical knowledge of this new technological context at the time they carry out their professional activity.

The CEO of E2K, Higinio Iglesias, commented that “cooperation between university and business is the most direct path to business competitiveness through training and promoting talent. This initiative from the University of Oviedo around the world of data is a clear example of E2K's commitment to the insurance sector and society''.

The Vice-Rector for Academic Management at the University of Oviedo, José Miguel Arial, thanked the company for its commitment to training and pointed out that "it is vitally important to deepen relationships with companies to respond to the needs for specialization and upgrading of its human resources. For her part, the vice-rector for Transference and Business Relations at the University of Oviedo, Begoña Cueto, added that “Companies will find in the university a scientific and innovative fabric of great quality, while the academic institution needs to know first-hand the needs that arise in the workplace in order to be able to move forward on the right path in the academic and research field”.

The event was also attended by Pedro Ramos, director of Project Engineering and Nuria Alfaro, head of Marketing and Communication at ebroker; Jorge García García, Director of the Transfer Area and Business Chairs at the University of Oviedo; and Manuel Luna, professor at the University of Oviedo and director of the newly created degree.
